Hendricks County Flyer
---- — To the Editor:
Working on east side of Plainfield, I often go home to Danville using Buchanan Street, south of U.S. 40, then turning north on Vine Street to then turn left to sneak into traffic on Center Street.
Vine Street just north of Buchanan became a favorite, with nice homes on the west side, and huge trees adorning all that is near. Vine became to me the quintessential Midwestern street, along with Old North Salem Road in Danville. Picture book.
Then a couple of weeks back, I turned north to my horror. At least seven trees had been felled on the west side. A worker said it was for sidewalks.
To my mind, the cost in aesthetic beauty over just the next 10 years: two million dollars.
Greenpeace, at times, has a point.
