For Clarian West Health Center here, the sun set on an era last Friday.
Al Gatmaitan, president and CEO at Clarian West, celebrated his last day at work.
“Actually, I’m just really proud today,” Gatmaitan said. “I’m really proud of what we, as a group, have been able to accomplish. I am really proud of the fact that I know it will continue.”
Gatmaitan, who was also the first employee hired at Clarian West six years ago, said he greatly values the time he spent at the hospital.
“My time with Clarian West and all of the people who have been our community of caregivers has been the most meaningful professional experience that I’ve had,” Gatmaitan said. “I can’t imagine anything better. To see it all gel together the way that it has and the way that we serve patients every day is a very rewarding experience.”
Though Gatmaitan is moving on to become the CEO of Clarian Arnett Health in Lafayette, he said the future is bright for Clarian West.
“This is a wonderful team that’s here,” Gatmaitan said. “The people of Hendricks County can count on outstanding service and quality care for many years to come. I’m really proud of that legacy.”
Doug Puckett, who has been acting as the CFO for Clarian West, is taking over as interim president and CEO.
Gatmaitan said his move is an opportunity to expand his options and career.
“I am excited (about my future),” Gatmaitan said. “There’s a little trepidation, like with any new job, but I’m excited for the opportunities with Clarian Arnett Health. It’s different than my current role in the sense that it’s fully integrated with a large physician group. The potential to do health care in cutting edge ways for the state of Indiana is very real. I’m looking forward to being a part of it.”
