Store welcomes Fever player for celebration

AVON — Saturday was a day to celebrate for DeLen Parnella.

Parnella began her day running the Indianapolis Marathon and ended at her store, The Athlete’s Foot, for a special event.

She welcomed Indiana Fever player Tully Beviloqua and announced that her store will be the first retail store to carry Nfinity’s basketball shoe for women.

“I don’t think you could possibly understand how excited that I am,” Parnella said. “It’s like Christmas, birthdays, and everything all together in one. This is the best.”

Though many could be exhausted by such a day, Parnella thinks that it was a perfect transition.

“Having it here and running a marathon in the morning and being here in the afternoon right afterwards is a perfect heel-toe transition,” Parnella said. “From one extreme to another, this is nice.”

Beviloqua was on hand to sign autographs and meet the public from 2-4 p.m. In addition, the store had raffle prizes including dinner with Beviloqua, her game used shoes from the WNBA Finals, and a free pair of basketball shoes.

The Nfinity shoe breaks down many barriers for women athletes that have not previously been ventured to.

“All basketball shoes in the past have been a shoe that they have conformed to a women’s foot,” Parnella said. “This is the first made especially for a female foot.”
