Radio Brownsburg celebrates anniversary

Brownsburg’s only local radio station will celebrate one year of service to the community with a giant party on July 10.

Radio Brownsburg General Manager and Morning Personality Shane Ray said the festivities will run from 4-7 p.m. July 10 on the parking lot of the broadcast studios at 701 N. Green St.

“We’ll have food, birthday cake, exhibitions, demonstrations, and much more,” Ray said in a press release. “Revelations Salon and Spa will be giving haircuts for donations to a charity. The Brownsburg Fire Department and Police Department will be bringing equipment by for show and tell. We’ll have the usual prizes and great giveaways. It promises to be a super event.”

Radio Brownsburg is a Low Power AM station broadcasting at 1610 and 1650 frequency.

Ray, a Kentucky transplant, worked in radio there. He said the station was launched to fill a void in the Hendricks County market since all of the local stations moved to Indianapolis.

The station plays rock-n-roll from the 1950s to the early ‘80s, but also has a schedule of local shows, including an interview show with Brownsburg Town Council members on Saturday mornings and the Adopt a Pet shows on Monday mornings. Every Friday, the station honors a local business with the Business of the Week designation. Radio Brownsburg also broadcasts news three times a day and has an extended Community Focus every day at noon.

This fall, Radio Brownsburg will carry all football games by the Brownsburg Bulldogs, plus it will carry football games from other Hendricks County schools on its website at www.RadioBrownsburg.com.

“Because the games are played at the same time, if you want to listen to Avon, Tri-West, or Plainfield, you can go to our website and listen to a live stream,” Ray said. “Or if you miss it, we’ll have the games archived on our website so you can listen to them any time.”

Radio Brownsburg broadcasts from the corner of State Road 267 and Motif Boulevard in Brownsburg and is currently setting up satellite transmitters around Brown, Lincoln, and Washington townships. Ray said he hopes to eventually cover the entire county.

In the mean time, listeners can tune into the signal at www.RadioBrownsburg.com.
