INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis International Airport will host a job fair to satisfy staffing needs for its new expansion. The event is from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. July 9 at the Radisson Hotel at the airport.

The new 1.2 million square-foot passenger terminal is expected to open on Oct. 28 and the Indianapolis Airport Authority says that it anticipates openings for building maintenance technicians and general laborers; airfield grounds and maintenance workers; terminal services building custodians; parking custodians and cashiers; and public safety officers

Indianapolis Airport Authority Media Relations Manager Susan Sullivan said that representatives from the airport will offer a series of 30-minute information sessions that will touch on these career opportunities and that those who attend the event will have the opportunity to submit an application.

“The new airport will not only offer huge conveniences for passengers, but job opportunities for members of the local community as well,” Sullivan said. “We want people to come out from all the counties and anyone who lives within what they consider a reasonable commuting distance for the airport to come to the job fair.”

Sullivan noted that organizers opted to extend the hours of the job fair to accommodate those who are currently employed, as well as those who might be commuting significant distances.

“We tried to make reasonable hours and it’s an informal networking event where people can come and learn about the new airport,” she said. “This is kind of a welcome to the airport session, talking about the ways the airport functions and talking about some of qualifications that will be required to work here.”

WorkOne, a job-placement agency affiliated with the Indiana Department of Workforce Development, will partner with the Airport Authority to provide testing and assessment of prospective employees and will refer those individuals to the Airport Authority for possible interview.
