Just the facts
WHAT: Hendricks County Family Night with the Indians
WHEN: 7 p.m. June 11
WHERE: Victory Field
A local summer tradition is fast approaching.
Baseball fans will again get an opportunity to network with neighbors and co-workers when the seventh annual Hendricks County Family Night with the Indians kicks off at 7 p.m. next Thursday at Victory Field.
This year, the State Bank of Lizton joins the Hendricks County Convention and Visitors Bureau, Hendricks Power, Hendricks Regional Health, and the Hendricks County Flyer in sponsoring the event.
“We have a new sponsor this year and new ticket locations,” said Jamie Bohler Smith, associate director of the HCCVB. “With it being our seventh year, we’re just excited to be able to continue to offer this exciting event.”
Fans can attend that evening’s game between the Indianapolis Indians and Norfolk Tides at a discounted price.
Buy-one-get-one free certificates are available at the county chambers of commerce in Avon, Brownsburg, Danville, and Plainfield, as well as the HCCVB office in Danville and the Hendricks County Flyer office in Avon. The coupons may also be found in all State Bank of Lizton branches including Avon, Brownsburg, Pittsboro, Lizton, and Jamestown.
Nearly 9,800 fans attended last year’s game.
“We certainly hope more people can come out and join us,” Smith said. “The buy-one-get-one free opportunity makes it an affordable option, and it’s right down the road. It’s just a great event.”
Prior to or on the day of the event, certificates can be exchanged for tickets at the Indians Box Office. Ticket prices are $9 and $13. For groups, blocks of tickets can be purchased at a discount.
More will be going on than just baseball.
Smith said there will be plenty of between-inning entertainment.
Emory Lencke, executive director of the HCCVB, will participate in the pre-game ceremonies, and the Tri-West High School choral department will sing the national anthem.
The HCCVB will also have a booth at the center field entrance, where visitors can register to win five $50 savings bonds. Hendricks Regional Health’s booth will feature a drawing to win Holiday World tickets and a gift package.
With summer-like temperatures in the forecast, hand fans will be distributed to the first 1,500 fans in an effort to beat the heat.
