Find art and more at Talbot Street Art Fair
-Staff Report
What is a lot of fun ... and free? Not much these days, but one thing people can put on their calendar is the 53rd annual Talbot Street Art Fair, and even better, it’s just a short drive away.
The fair — located in downtown Indianapolis, just 15 blocks north of Monument Circle and two blocks to the east — is open to people of all ages.
On June 14-15, Talbott Street — starting at 16th Street, continuing up through 19th Street, and even spurring off on 17th Street toward Delaware and 18th Street toward Pennsylvania — will come alive with the look of art.
Whatever a person’s tastes in décor or desire, they will find it here: paintings in watercolor, oil, acrylic, mixed media, pastel, pen, and ink; jewelry in gold, silver, and less precious metals; sculptures in metal, clay, and other materials; glassware and glass art; functional clay pieces that can serve as dinnerware; abstract objects of art; fabric pieces; purses, eyewear and more.
There will also be hand-painted wooden signs, wooden furniture, and even willow furniture for the porch.
Although Indiana is well represented with prominent artists exhibiting in the show, the show being designated as one of the top in the nation draws artists from across the United States. More than 250 art booths will keep people looking for hours.
There are also places to stop for a bite to eat.
The fair also provides air conditioned restroom facilities, an ATM for easy convenience, and assistance in getting purchases to vehicles.
The fair is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. June 14 and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 15.
