DANVILLE — Eric Wathen (R-2nd District) was appointed as a Hendricks County Commissioner in August of 2007 and will likely stay that way after defeating fellow Republican Brent Pittman by a 13-point margin. Wathen is a graduate of Tri-West high school and Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.
He is running unopposed in November’s general election.
Avon resident Phyllis Palmer also secured her Commissioner’s seat after running unopposed in Tuesday evening’s primary. The former Hendricks County Council member has served as a Commissioner since 2005.
In the race for County Council, Republicans Dick Thompson, Larry Hesson and Nathaniel Woods all secured nominations for open at large seats in November. Democrat John Hamilton was also nominated after running unopposed.
Republican Cindy Spence faces a challenge Democrat Earl Chestnut for the position of Circuit Court Clerk as neither candidate was unopposed in the primary.
Incumbents were unopposed in all of the county’s other races.
