Wiseman honored for safety streak

by Brian Kern

INDIANAPOLIS — Travelers along roads in Jamestown, North Salem, and Lizton can feel safe when it comes to their local UPS man. The company recently recognized Package Car Driver Scott Wiseman for completing 20 consecutive years of service to the company without an accident.

Wiseman has been with UPS for 28 years and covers the Tri-County area.

“It’s a good company,” he said. “We definitely work hard, but I enjoy it and they treat us pretty well.”

Wiseman received a commemorative plaque and will receive a glass end table and clock, courtesy of UPS.

He said the accomplishment did not happen without a few close calls.

“When you’re amongst a group of people, you don’t always know what someone’s gonna do,” he said. “The only thing you can really control is what positions you put yourself into.”

UPS boasts one of the highest safety rates in the logistics industry. The company employs 4,451 drivers who have 25-plus years of experience without an accident.
