Plainfield Town Council
The issue: Town Manager Rich Carlucci said in light of the recent discovery of Brad Hensley’s Jeep and body in the Glen Haven subdivision retention pond, he would like to provide additional safety measures.
The action: Carlucci proposed three steps: that Plainfield Police Lt. Jill Lees and Fire Marshall Ken Foster develop a “best practices” curriculum for elementary school students; that Transportation Director Don McGillem and Town Engineer Tim Belcher survey all retention ponds adjacent to neighborhoods to possibly add barricades; and that Lees, Foster, and Public Works Superintendent Jason Castetter develop warning signs for retention ponds to be made available to place in subdivisions and near retention ponds. The council granted permission.
The issue: Parks and Recreation Director Clay Chafin asked the council’s permission to advertise for bids for phase two of the Vandalia East and West trail project, for which funds would be covered by the trail bond issue.
The action: The council granted permission to advertise for bids.
The issue: Council member Kent McPhail recommended John Anderson to the council to fill the vacant police commissioner position.
The action: The council voted to appoint Anderson, whose term will expire Dec. 31, 2009.
