What's going on at your local library?

(Continued)

— Lego Club will be from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Jan. 16

— Krafty Kids will be from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Jan. 21.

— Genealogy Nuts Meeting will be at 1:30 p.m. Jan. 13.

This month the group will learn about Midwestern archives and libraries. There are many well-known libraries and archives in our area that researchers should investigate before they say nothing more can be found on my families. The websites give a window into the collections and a trip to the “brick-and-mortar” buildings will provide more information. Midwesterners are not afraid of a drive to a library. Many of these libraries are less than a day’s drive away. In some cases, the drive is a few hours. The group will explore some of the unique features of these libraries at the meeting. Come and enjoy learning about some new resources that might answer some questions about our troublesome ancestors.

— Teens Like Legos Too! will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Jan. 14. The grade school students started their Lego club in October; now it is your turn. Come into the library to hang out with friends and play with our huge Lego collection. This program is exclusively for students in grades 6 through12. Registration is appreciated but not required.

January 2014 TAB Meeting will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Jan. 15. This is the monthly TAB meeting. Everyone in grades 6 through 12 who has an interest in teen materials collection, programs, and activities offered for teens and “tweens” should consider being part of the Teen Advisory Board of the Danville Public Library. All of our meetings are open to everyone in grades 6 through 12. The group does fun activities at most meetings, plan future programs and activities, develops a volunteer program, and participates in community service activities in addition to helping with other programs offered at the Danville Public Library. Members are not expected to attend every meeting or every event. Once on the board, members will receive monthly information from the meetings even if they are not able to attend. Those who participate regularly in TAB, for six months or more, can request personal letters of recommendation from Kris. For more information, call or e-mail Kris at 745-2604 orkristink@dplindiana.org
