Avon-Washington Township Public Library
— Animal Tales is 2 p.m. May 3. Each month, join the Hendricks County Parks Department as they host a story time/craft session featuring animals found here in Indiana. Programs are for children ages 4 through 10 and registration is required. Learn about beavers and hear a reading of Little Beaver and the Echo by Amy McDonald. The class will also make a beaver craft. Registration is required.
— Pokemon League is from 2 to 4:30 p.m. May 4 and 18. The Pokemon League provides a nearby place for players to get together with other fans of both the Pokemon Trading Card Game and the Pokemon video games. Using their own cards and Pokemon DS games, they can play, trade, and earn prizes. Those who don’t know all the rules of the game, can learn. Joining a league is the best way to hone the skills needed to compete in Pokémon tournaments from Battle Roads all the way up to the World Championships. — Silent Auction runs through April 30. The library has cooked up a delectable spread of vintage books on cooking and homemaking skills. A few of the titles offered are: a 1914 edition of Principles of Cooking, 1860: The American Practical Cookery Book, 1937: The Art of Cooking and Serving, and a 1939 autographed copy of Prudence Penny’s cookbook.
— ArtsGo 2013 is 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today. The library will once again be a stop on the Hendricks County Arts Council’s ArtsGo Artists Tour. Several artists will be present during this time to discuss and sell their art work.
— Introduction to PowerPoint is 6 p.m. April 29. Learn to make professional-looking presentations in just minutes by adding video, photographs, and audio files to a PowerPoint presentation. Basic beginner skills are also included. Cost is $15.
