Library briefs for June 9, 2010

— Preschool Storytimes are at 9:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Mondays, 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays, and 9:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Thursdays. Each week will include a 15-minute group storytime and a 15-minute craft time. Registration is requested.

— Toddler Tales is 10:30 and 11:30 a.m. Wednesdays for children ages 24-36 months. Toddlers must be accompanied by an adult for the 30-minute program which is designed to stimulate pre-reading skills and hand-eye coordination. Registration is requested.

— Cuddlebugs is 9:30 a.m. Wednesdays for babies ages 12-24 months and their guardians. It will include fingerplays, songs, and stories. Registration is requested.

— Creative Kiddos is from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Mondays for children ages 3 to 6. Each week there will be an artistic activity or craft for children ages 3-6 as part of the summer reading program. Registration is requested.

— Wiggleworms is 9:30 a.m. Mondays for children ages 6 to 12 months. Enjoy songs, rhymes, fingerplays, and stories. Registration is required once for the eight-week session.

— Found Underground Storytime is from 4 to 4:30 p.m. on the first Friday of each month. Children ages 4-10 are invited to take part in adventures with the Hendricks County Parks and Recreation naturalist. Each month, a different animal found in Indiana will be studies while reading a story that helps young audiences discover their wild neighbors.

— Warm Up With a Good Book, an informal winter reading program for teens in grades six through 12, runs from now through March 31. Teens will log the titles and a brief response to the books they read and those who read at least five books during the program will receive a small prize. A collective list of all the books read will be printed in the library’s teen publication, The DRIFT.

— The Teen Department at Danville Public Library (DPL) has a Facebook account and is looking for friends. Anyone interested can go to “Teens at Dpl.” There is a blog on information about tween and teen programs at http://kydds-books-now.blogspot.com/. The library is also on MySpace at http://www.myspace.com/danvillelibraryteens.
