The Danville Public Library is offering free 30-minute storytime programs and knowledge of early literacy with childcare centers and daycares in the town.
From the time they’re infants, children are learning language and important skills that can help them learn to read. This storytime service is free of charge and would provide enrichment and support to both children and daycare staff.
As part of the service, each month the Danville Public Library will deliver a bag of books for use in the facility, without the fear of overdue fines or fines due to wear and tear done by little ones.
The special bags of books consist of donated items or library discards. This is a great way to get new books into the hands of children without purchasing them or worrying about what might happen to the books borrowed from the library.
At the monthly storytime visit, the librarian will exchange the bag of books for a new bag with different books. This will allow the children to get one step closer to the 1,000 books before kindergarten goal.
The program will also include fingerplays, songs, crafts and more.
Childcare owners or managers in Danville who would like a librarian to visit their business on a monthly basis may call the library’s Youth Services Department at 745-2604.
