In December it will be Polar Express Night. Join for a reading of Polar Express, crafts and other surprises. All Aboard to Reading — Early Literacy Family Fun nights are sponsored a generous anonymous donor. These special literacy nights will take place once a month through December. An adult must also attend with the child. Registration is required and begins Dec. 9.

— Letters to Santa will begin Nov. 29 and end Dec. 14. Children may write a letter to Santa and mail it in our special North Pole Express mailbox. Make it easy on Santa and his elves to answer your child’s letter by including a self-addressed stamped envelope. Santa will write a letter back to the child and the letter will be placed in the envelope and mailed to your child. The envelope must have a stamp in order for the child to receive a reply.

— Santa visits will be from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Dec. 9 and 12. Children ages 3 and up can come for a visit with Santa. So there will be no waiting, patrons are asked to sign up for the half hour period they would like to come and arrive at the beginning of that half hour. They will be given a number and will see Santa in the order they arrive. While waiting, holiday books, music, and coloring sheets will be available Registration begins Dec. 2 for both dates. Parents who want pictures with Santa, for infants and children up to age 3 who will not talk to Santa do not need to be signed up, but can sit on Santa’s lap for a photo. Children who do not need to be signed up can come at any time and will be fit in for a picture as possible. The library does not take the pictures, so parents are encouraged to bring cameras. Sessions are from 4:30 to 5, 5 to 5:30, 5:30 to 6, 6 to 6:15, 6:30 to 7, and 7 to 7:30 p.m. Santa has a break from 6:15 to 6:30 p.m. (but he usually doesn’t take one). There will be 10 spots open each session (5 for the 6 to 6:15) for kids ages 3 and up only.
