A lifelong Republican, Don Hodson has been the chair of the Republican Party in Washington Township since 1998. Once elected, he will reduce the trusteeÕs salary to $25,000 and refuse the retirement contribution paid by taxpayers.

In order to help solve a $15 million debt facing the township, he will need a supportive board. He will appoint a panel of concerned community volunteers to review ways to contain and reduce expenses and maximize township resources. Don is asking for your vote for his Republican team of Suzanne X. Conger, Doug Elmore, and Michael Lynch for Washington Township Board.

Occupation: Sales manager for Statewide Credit Association Inc. since 1994.

Activities: Republican Precinct Committeeman since 1998; Washington Twp. Republican Chair since 1998; Former Washington Twp. Fire Department Merit Board President 1999-2003; Member of the Avon United Methodist Church; Married 25 years to Rita (Delp); Three children and three grandchildren; Former foster parent of 28; Eagle Scout - Active in Boy Scouts for 50 years; One of the original organizers of the Avon Community Heritage Festival; ACHF Board member since 1999, president 2003-05 and Ô08; Member of the Avon Chamber of Commerce; Active in Project A.N.G.E.L. since 1999; Avon Relay for Life.

Education: 1970 graduate of Plainfield High School; Ô74 graduate of Wabash College with BA in political science and speech.

Also, the Avon firefighters have come out to endorse Hodson. IAFF Local 4406 District President Todd Fair said members have had an opportunity to get better acquainted with Hodson.

ÒHe has attended union meetings, at his request, to get to know our members better, to answer questions, and to listen to our concerns,Ó Fair said. ÒWe are all aware of the budgetary constraints our department faces, and we feel he will do everything in his power to ensure that the citizens that live in and that pass through Washington Township will continue to be protected.Ó
