“I think the restaurants had lines throughout the evening,” he said. “There was a good steady flow of people.”
Allen said the restaurants that participated did a great job.
“There were just a few that ran out (of food),” he said. “And people were smart about their eating this year. They came in, got their appetizers and main course. Then went back for their desserts.”
Jamie Bohler Smith of the Hendricks County Convention and Visitors Bureau said the Taste of Hendricks County is a showcase event.
“It really showcases our community and food from all over the county,” Bohler Smith said. “We have places here from Plainfield to Danville. Gosh, this year we even have Pittsboro represented.”
She said she enjoys seeing the mix of locally owned restaurants as well as “those places like Applebee’s and Chick-fil-A, which are great community partners.”
Bohler Smith said the HCCVB is having a great summer travel season and will soon be welcoming the winners of the Win & Grin Getaways contest.
“We have people coming from out of state to Hendricks County over the next 12 weeks,” she said. “Then we’ll learn from them their first-person experience. We’re hoping for some great visitor experiences.”
The next big event for the HCCVB is Wings of Golf, which takes place Aug. 15 at West Chase in Brownsburg. The event starts with registration at 10 a.m.
