— To the Editor:
In the early 1970s, Plainfield had a very reliable bus service (Indiana Transit). Then it was purchased by Indianapolis Transit. Then service here was curtailed and the Indiana Mass Transportation Tax was absorbed by Indianapolis Transit.
After several protests and petitions, service was restored for a short time, but service was scheduled so riders couldn't get to work or home at reasonable times. So they said there wasn't enough support for the service and again discontinued service.
They talk now of creating a new transportation tax, but what about the previous tax that was taken over by Indianapolis Transit? Would that be restored to Hendricks County or such service companies so as to lessen any new tax?
If this is true, it would seem we've been paying such a tax to Marion County for over 40 years.
