Roy E. and Sharon Kenne Newby of Plainfield are celebrating their 50th anniversary.
The couple was married May 25, 1963, at First Methodist Church in Valparaiso.
They began their married life at various U.S. Army bases while Mr. Newby served his enlistment. After his discharge, they went to Purdue University where he pursued a degree in aviation.
He worked 22 years as a pilot for Eastern Airlines, mostly in Atlanta, Ga., before the company closed.
The Newbys then moved to Avon and he flew for ATA until his retirement in 2002.
Mrs. Newby was a homemaker.
Mr. Newby enjoys his antique care hobby and studying American history. Mrs. Newby is involved in genealogy and gardening.
