Poehler returns from Afghanistan

Anthony Jerald Poehler recently returned from Afghanistan after a one-year, three-month stay. He served his first nine months in Jalalabad before he was sent to Bagran Air Field for his last six months of tour.

Poehler received his GED from Avon High School and enlisted in March of 2006. In July of that year he was sent to Fort Riley, Kan., for his permanent base. He is with the 3rd brigade with the Unit Battallion 70th engineers.

He spent his month's leave at home in Plainfield until July 7 when he returned to Ft. Riley until October. From there, his unit will be disbanded and will station him in White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico.

Poehler re-enlisted March 18 and was promoted to Specialist March 20. He is the son of Carl and Terri Poehler of Plainfield and Anthony and Rebecca Root of Avon.

He has three sisters, a brother, two nephews, and a niece who reside in Hendricks County.
