Seminar offers info on health care reform

As the United States Supreme Court recently upheld the Affordable Care Act, Hoosier businesses are facing big changes to their employer-provided health care. With so many questions on compliance obligations and strategic decisions at hand, the Indiana Chamber of Commerce is offering a new seminar entitled “Health Care Reform: What Happens Now?”

The half-day workshop is from 9 a.m. to noon Aug. 22 in the Chamber’s downtown Indianapolis conference center.

Topics for discussion include the creation and distribution of the summary of benefits and coverage; form W-2 reporting obligations; new fees imposed on health plans for patient-centered research; new limits for health flexible spending accounts; state-based health insurance exchanges; employer penalties for failing to provide minimum health coverage; and the expansion of the Department of Labor’s audit program.

The cost for the seminar is $199 for Indiana Chamber members and $229 for non-members. Any company sending one employee may send a second for half the price. The course is part of the Indiana Chamber’s Human Resource Specialist Certificate program and attendees will receive one credit toward completion of the program.
