Hendricks County Flyer

AVON — Mystique Salon & Day Spa will host a grand opening and open house from 3 to 8 p.m. Nov. 19.

The public is invited to come and tour the award-winning spa’s new Avon location at 8403 East US 36, just west of Terry Lee Honda, behind the mattress store and next to Jump and Play.

During the five-hour open house, Mystique technicians will be on hand to provide a sample of the spa services available, including mini-massages, and will conduct hourly door-prize drawings. In addition, holiday ornaments will be available for purchase and the spa will collect donated toiletries to benefit Project A.N.G.E.L., a Hendricks County-based nonprofit providing social services to county residents in need.

Mystique Salon & Day Spa opened more than 16 years ago. From 1997 through this past August, the spa was located at the corner of Rockville and Girls School Road. But when the opportunity to move to a larger space presented itself, Mystique owner and head massage therapist Terri Scritchfield recognized the need and jumped at the chance to relocate the spa to its new, 4,000-square-foot Avon location.

Scritchfield wants the tranquil new Mystique Spa location to be a safe, relaxing environment where patrons can escape, heal, and take time for themselves and their well-being.

“Even if you only have half an hour,” Scritchfield said, in a press release. “Mystique has an affordable service that can help you look and feel better, and that can do wonders toward improving your mood and outlook.”

The new Mystique location features four massage therapy rooms, and therapeutic massage is one of many sought-after services. Scritchfield has been a massage therapist for 18 years. She and her team of massage therapists have a combined 59 years of massage therapy experience and take continuing education courses on an annual basis.

Scritchfield studied massage at Indiana University, Purdue University Indianapolis and sports massage at the Olympic training facility in Beijing, China. She touts the benefits of deep-tissue massage, including improved circulation, decreased muscle pain, improved posture, and faster recovery from sports or repetitive-motion injuries. She not only treats clients at Mystique, but also provides services to human and equine athletes at the National Barrel Horse Association and does therapeutic massage on companion animals.

In addition to massage therapy, Mystique technicians provide a full complement of spa services including facials, haircuts and color, manicures, pedicures, and spa packages. The new location has three facial rooms, three manicure/pedicure stations, and six hair stations. The spa also features a “relaxation room” that features soothing music and white noise from a 500-galon fish tank, where clients can rest before and between spa treatments. In its 13-year existence, Mystique Salon & Day Spa has been listed multiple times in Indy “Best-of” lists, and has been on the A-list and the Indianapolis Business Journal largest day spa list for several years in a row.
