AVON — MCL Restaurant and Bakery opened in Avon earlier this week and has community events planned for the remainder of the month.
The family-owned restaurant known for fresh, homemade food.
The completion of the newly-constructed restaurant at 121 Avon Village Parkway, along U.S. 36, is a significant step for the Indianapolis-based chain. In recent years, MCL Restaurant and Bakery relocated two of its locations to accommodate a larger number of guests.
As part of its grand opening, the restaurant is going to host a series of “Community Day” celebrations throughout the month of May, in which 10 percent of the sales from each ‘day’ at the Avon location will be donated to benefit six Hendricks County school districts.
The Community Day event benefits Avon Schools on May 17, Plainfield/Mill Creek Schools on May 24, Danville/NW Hendricks Schools on May 28 and Brownsburg Schools on May 31.
“We are genuinely excited to open our doors in Hendricks County … with all of the growth that is taking place out here and we can’t wait to welcome everyone to come see us,” Casey McGaughey, vice president of MCL Restaurant and Bakery said. “And what better way to show our appreciation than to help make a difference and support the students and their activities at school.”
MCL is also handing out 15,000 coupon books featuring some of its most popular items to guests who visit the restaurant as part of the grand opening activities.
In addition to the 75 full-time jobs that were created to construct the restaurant, McGaughey said MCL recently hired 150 people to staff the location, which also offers an area for carry-out service.
Featuring a seating capacity of 260, the dining room is brightly lit and offers a mix of tables and booth space, including two farm tables capable of hosting larger parties.
