PLAINFIELD — Covidien, a worldwide medical supply company, has chosen to move a portion of its Boulder, Colo., employee positions to Plainfield.
Covidien’s Plainfield location will be the centralized technical services facility.
The company has “pioneered a number of medical advances, including pulse oximetry, electrosurgery, surgical stapling, laparoscopic instrumentation and embolization devices,” according to its website, and has more than 38,000 employees worldwide.
The company is known for industry-leading brands such as Kendall, Nellcor, Puritan-Bennett and Valleylab.
Covidien hopes establishing a concentrated function in Plainfield will deliver a unified experience for customers.
The consolidation will take place over the next 12 to 18 months and impacts about 112 employees in technical services.
Cinda Kelly, executive director of the Hendricks County Economic Development Partnership, said this is a great thing for Hendricks County.
“This consolidation will be 112 jobs at $35 an hour,” she said.
