PLAINFIELD — Employees at the David Howard Allstate office in Plainfield are once again planning a food drive for the St. Mark’s Episcopal Church food pantry. The event will run from noon to 5 p.m. Nov. 8 and 9 in the Plainfield Kroger parking lot.
This is the second time the office will be holding such an event under the direction of Danielle Sevier, a licensed sales representative for Allstate. She decided on the event while attending training given by the company.
“We hope people will pick up a few extra things while they’re shopping,” Sevier said.
Items may be dropped off during the drive or at the office. David Howard Allstate is at 203 W. Main St., in the Town Center in Plainfield.
Items needed by the pantry include canned goods, pasta, and baby items.
“People can shop ahead of time and drop it off at the office, if they like,” Sevier said. “We can also take monetary donations. People are just asked to make checks out to St. Mark’s Episcopal Church.”
The staff held the first food drive in July. She said it went so well they decided to have another one as people prepare for the holiday season.
“People are getting ready for the holidays,” Sevier said. “The pantry will be helping a lot of people.”
She contacted Kroger store manager Jeanette Stevens about the food drive.
“She’s been so great to work with,” Sevier said. “They’re actually having their open house during the food drive.”
Stevens said the store holds a holiday open house and its taking place this weekend as well.
“It’s really a customer appreciation event,” Stevens said. “We do it every year.”
