IMCU holds bowl-a-thon fundraiser

Indiana Members Credit Union (IMCU), Central Indiana’s largest credit union, recently hosted its “Bowl-A-Thon” employee fundraising event at Expo Bowl in Indianapolis.

There were 400 bowlers who attended the event, filling two flights of 80 lanes. The event raised more than $11,000 for the Indiana Members Foundation to help children in need in the communities IMCU serves.

Features of the day included more than 200 door prizes and an award for “Best Team T-shirt.” Each bowler that participated received two games and shoes.

The Indiana Members Foundation was founded in 2010 by IMCU employees and volunteers for the purpose of being a positive influence in the community, specifically providing school children in the Indianapolis area with the necessary essentials for learning and succeeding in their education.

“This event sold out for the sixth year in a row,” Mandy Emery said in a press release.

Emery is assistant vice president of community relations for IMCU and executive director of Indiana Members Foundation.

“The generosity of our employees, their friends and families is truly amazing,” she said. “We were able to raise over $11,800, which is incredible and allows us (Indiana Members Foundation) to help support the children in need in the communities in which IMCU serves. Our 2014 fundraising goal for Indiana Members Foundation is to raise enough funds to provide 4,000 backpacks, filled with supplies, and 500 school uniforms, belts and shoes to school children in the Indianapolis area. We also plan to fund four grants to local non-profits that serve the youth in our communities. The grants will be funded up to $2,500 each through our Joan Wolfe Legacy Grant Program.”

Ron Collier, president and CEO of IMCU, also commented on the event.

“Seeing our organization come together for this worthy cause is truly inspiring,” Collier said. “Children in our communities are in great need of basic school supplies and IMCU employees know the importance of giving back to the communities we serve. IMCU looks forward to this event every year and I am thrilled we are able to assist in fulfilling this need through our foundation.”
