Police release names in shooting incident

INDIANAPOLIS — PLAINFIELD —The Plainfield Police Department has released the names of most of the individuals involved in a police action shooting Tuesday night.

Officers responding to a home invasion shot one man who had drawn a weapon on them and apprehended a second man who was still inside the home.

At about 9:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to 270 Andrews Boulevard, Plainfield, on a burglary-in-progress call. Deputy Joshua Nohren of the Hendricks County Sheriff’s Department and Sgt. Michael Mason of the Plainfield Police Department were the first officers to respond to the residence.

The officers reported hearing screams coming from inside the home, and advised dispatch that they needed to make entry. As the officers approached the front door, they saw a white male standing there with a firearm. The subject raised and pointed the weapon at the officers as they approached, and the officers fired at the subject, killing him.

The officers then entered the residence, and upon checking it, discovered a second white male suspect. Once the officers cornered him, he surrendered without further incident.

That suspect was identified as Justin Pearson, 30. He is being held at the Hendricks County Jail in Danville on a preliminary charge of robbery.

The identity of the deceased suspect has not yet been released. An autopsy is scheduled for later today.
