Former teacher convicted of child molestation

Joseph Singleton was found guilty of two counts of child molestation stemming from allegations made nearly a year ago.

Singleton was a math teacher at Plainfield Community Middle School when he was accused of inappropriate conduct with a female student.

The allegations were made known in May 2013. Officials from the Plainfield Community School Corporation cooperated fully with Hendricks County Sheriff’s Department investigators.

Singleton’s case was heard by Hendricks Superior III Judge Karen Love.

Officials on Love’s staff said he was convicted of one C felony of child molestation, and one A felony of child molestation.

Singleton will be sentenced at 8:30 a.m. May 21.
