— The body of former Plainfield resident Nick Bower was located just before noon Tuesday morning in Talladega County.
Bower had been missing from the South Parks campground near the Talladega Superspeedway in Lincoln, Ala since May, 4.
The Talladega County Sheriff’s Office sent out a press release yesterday afternoon.
“At approximately noon today, searchers located the body of Nicolas Bower in the creek at the Jackson Shoals area downstream from the old dam,” Talladega Sheriff Jimmy Kilgore stated in the release. “This area was a short distance east of the bridge on Jackson Trace Road. Mr. Bower was spotted by searchers in a helicopter conducting an aerial search along the creek. The body had been concealed by tall grass in the middle of the creek where he was spotted (Tuesday). Sheriff’s investigators and searchers were guided to the location and recovered the body.”
Bower was last seen in a chair at his campsite near 11 p.m. May 4. His girlfriend, Jennifer Boesch was with Bower at the time.
“I went to bed and he stayed up around the campfire with a bunch of people, and then they went to bed but he still stayed up,” Boesh said.
According to Kilgore “Mr. Bower’s remains were turned over to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for autopsy per order of the District Attorney. No foul play is suspected at this time and verification of the cause of death is pending.”
