Senior living community evacuated after losing power

INDIANAPOLIS — Residents at Crestwood Village West, a senior living community at 230 Welcome Way Blvd. West Drive, were evacuated Wednesday afternoon after the power was lost, which made the building too hot.

Wayne Township firefighters responded to the complex and assisted with the evacuation of about 300 residents to the ballroom, which had electricity.

According to officials, a construction crew cut a power line off of the property. Crestwood was keeping residents in the ballroom until the problem was resolved.
