What's going on at your local library?

Avon-Washington Township Public Library

— Animal Tales will take place at 2 p.m. Dec. 6.

Each month, join the Hendricks County Parks Department for a storytime/craft session featuring animals found here in Indiana. Programs are for children ages 4 to 10 and registration is required. Registration will begin Nov. 29 for Dec. 6 program.

The Dec. 6 program will be Hear Canada Goose at Cattail lane, by Janet Halfmann, and make a goose craft

— The Pokémon League will be from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Dec. 7 and 21. Join the Pokémon Trading Card Game League that meets at 2 p.m. on the first and third Saturdays of each month. The Pokémon League provides a nearby place for Pokémon enthusiasts to get together with other fans of both the Pokémon Trading Card Game and the Pokémon video games, and have some fun. Those who attend can use their own cards and Pokémon DS games, to play, trade, and there are even opportunities to earn cool prizes. Players who don’t know all the rules of the game can learn game basics and, in no time, perfect a strategy. Joining a league is the best way to hone skills to compete in Pokémon tournaments from Battle Roads all the way up to the World Championships.

— The Teen Advisory Group will meet from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Dec. 3. Anyone is grades 5 through 12 is welcome. There is no registration required. The group will be discussing Celebrity Auction letters and a YAR grant at the Nov. 5 meeting and at the Dec. 3 meeting, members will be setting up the Christmas tree and decorating the children’s area for the holidays. Snacks are provided.

— Chess Night will take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Nov. 26 and Dec. 10. Chess Night is for all ages and no registration is required, just stop by to play. Chess boards and snacks are provided. It is sponsored by the Friends of the Avon-Washington Township Public Library.
