Winterland Fun coming to Danville

The Greater Danville Chamber of Commerce and the Danville Parks and Recreation Department will again be offering Ellis Park’s Winterland Holiday Light Show.

The show opens Nov. 29 and runs through Christmas Eve. Hours for the show are 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday; and 6 to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.

New this year is a 30-foot Christmas tree with lights synchronized to music.

Admission for the show is $8 per car. Coupons for $3 off admission are available in several local publications as well as on the Chamber’s website at www.danvillechamber.org or the park’s website at www.danvilleindiana.org/parks.

The Danville Community High School Business Professionals of America Club will again present Santa in the Train Station on Friday, Saturday and Sunday of each week.

Wednesdays are Food Pantry Nights where a bag of food can be donated in exchange for $3 per car admission.

At 5 p.m. Dec. 7, the Parks Department is hosting its second annual Winterland Walk/Run for a fee of $5 per participant. The event offers a one-mile run or a half mile walk.

Prizes will be awarded to the merriest dressed runner/walker. In addition, any participant who brings a canned food donation will receive a special prize.

Participants are asked to pre-register online at www.danvilleindiana.org/recreation. Registrations will also be accepted on the day of the event.

Major sponsors of the event are Hendricks Regional Health, Vectren Energy, Money Mailer, Town Planner Calendar, Hendricks County Flyer, Waste Management, Duke Energy, and Danville Downtown Partnership.

Funds from the event are split between the Chamber of Commerce and the Parks Department and are used toward programs that the chamber offers and beautification projects for the park.
