Woman stabbed to death in domestic dispute

BROWNSBURG — Police have arrested a man suspected of killing his wife in the Eagle Crossing subdivision, near 56th Street and Raceway Road, earlier this week.

Angela Warnock, 38, was allegedly stabbed by her estranged husband, Joseph Warnock, 41, during a domestic dispute.

“The victim’s estranged husband came to the house late that night and stabbed the victim,” said Brian Tremper with the Hendricks County Sheriff’s Department.

Police were sent to the house, at 10450 Splendor Way, after receiving a 911 call from the Warnocks’ 8- and 12-year-old children, who were present during the stabbing. Police say the children were able to identify Warnock as the suspect.

“We know that domestic situations can erupt,” Tremper said. “But it is not normally like this. It is a tragedy, no doubt. This will change several lives forever.”

He said police received some leads earlier in the day, but did not locate Warnock until later that evening.

After police arrived, dogs were able to locate Warnock’s car, which was not at the home. Police then began using bloodhounds in an attempt to locate him.

Around 9 p.m., police apprehended Warnock at 10577 East County Road 600 North, just a short distance from his estranged wife’s home. Police received a tip that a man appearing to fit the description released by authorities was crouching along the side of a road. Warnock was brought in with no resistance and was taken to the Hendricks County Jail in Danville.

An intial hearing is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Hendricks Superior Court I.

Though the home has an Indianapolis address, it is in Hendricks County and the children attend Brownsburg schools.

This murder comes less than a month after Michael Gelinas was gunned down in Avon.

Tremper said the fact that the county is not accustomed to such crimes puts an added importance on the search for information.

“It was shocking to me,” he said. “We do not expect or want crime here. This just makes it more important to get the information and track him down.”
