Fifteen area students were recently honored at Victory Field before an Indianapolis Indians baseball game for being Future Leaders scholarship winners. Each student received a laptop, software, and carrying case, all valued at around $1,000. Scholarship recipients were evaluated on their community service activities, leadership skills and an essay describing the importance of leadership and community service. Among those honored at the game were Lael Allen of Plainfield (far left), Kellie Dippel of Brownsburg (third from left), and Robert Komis of Avon (third from right). Also winning the scholarship but not pictured were Kathryn Frankewich of Brownsburg and Claire Hazelton of Danville.
